EXO’s D.O, along with singer-songwriter-producer Yoo Young-jin, released the complete version of the track for Tell Me (What is Love), that was first heard in The Lost Planet way back from 2014 as D.O.’s solo stage song and was also sung by the main vocal line during 2014 MAMA Awards.
A collaborative track from SM’s soulful vocalists, this new release is definitely a must-listen for fans of soulful ballads with RnB specialized vocals.
This song’s a special treat from EXO’s main vocalist, who’s known for his honey-like voice, that's perfect for jazz, RnB mellow beats, a unique style compared to the trademark vocal sound that SM Entertainment is known for, which are powerhouse vocals, ranging from TVXQ’s Changmin, SHINee’s Jonghyun, and EXO’s Chen. The other half of this collaboration, Yoo Young-jin, has composed and written songs for H.O.T., S.E.S, BoA, Shinhwa, TVXQ, The Grace, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, f(x), EXO and Red Velvet. His record track is legenadary, as he is the genius behind the hit songs of Super Junior's Sorry Sorry, SNSD's I Got A Boy and SHINee's Replay. Besides his collaborative track with D.O., he has previously worked with EXO as the composer of some of their tracks in their debut album, namely MAMA, What is Love and History.
All in all, this song is a powerful track, abounding with such emotions, where the artists sing their hearts own in perfect harmony, that truthfully, if you aren’t listening carefully, you might delude yourself that there’s only one person singing the whole song. The lyrics speak of a sad break up that the guy keeps questioning his foolish actions, unable to get over it.
And honestly, no one’s getting over this song as well anytime soon.
